Greenwood Student Portal and the Greenwood Sign-in browser extension · Greenwood International School – Dubai
Who runs this
The portal at greenwoodschool.ae and the Greenwood Sign-in extension are run by the IT department of Greenwood International School – Dubai for its own students. They are not offered to the public and are not used for advertising.
What we store
- Each student's name, student ID, grade, section and school email, from the school's records.
- The usernames and passwords the school issued for each learning app. Passwords are stored encrypted (AES-256) on the school's server.
- An activity log: sign-ins, which app was opened and when, and the computer's IP address – kept so the IT team can help students and keep accounts safe.
What the extension does with it
- When a student opens an app from the portal, the extension receives that student's login for that one app, using a one-time key that works once for 60 seconds.
- It types the login into that app's own sign-in page and presses “Sign in”. It only works on the portal and on the school's learning-app websites listed in the extension.
- The login is kept in the browser's memory for at most 3 minutes and is never saved on the computer, never sent anywhere except the app's own sign-in page, and never shared with anyone else.
- It switches off website notifications (the “Allow notifications?” pop-ups) in the browser it is installed in, so students are not interrupted in class.
- “Sign out of everything” deletes the sign-in cookies of the school's learning apps on that computer.
- The extension does not read browsing history, does not track the websites a student visits and does not collect any other data.
Sharing
We do not sell or share student data. Logins are only given to the student they belong to and to the school's IT administrators. Each learning app has its own privacy policy for the data it keeps.
